Students First
Every child is unique and we believe that success and growth come from encouragement and praise. Our teachers focus on building every child’s self-esteem and confidence by using an educational approach called deeper learning. Deeper learning encourages critical, independent thinking across all academic subjects allowing the child to learn how to effectively communicate, while improving their ability apply newly learned and innate skills. By employing a deeper learning approach, we nurture their natural strengths. We believe in encouraging children's natural curiosity; allowing every child to see the world around them with wonder and awe.
Supplement Classroom Instruction
Most would agree that the goal of tutoring is to help students become independent learners by modelling and reinforcing the skills needed to succeed in school. However, studies show that there are endless benefits to working one-on-one with a tutor, such as improved work and study habits, increased confidence and attitude, or improved social and behavioral skills. Not to mention, students with additional support tend to attend school more regularly and perform better on assessments.
Tutoring is not solely for those students struggling to achieve their goals in school. There is nothing wrong with needing to work with a tutor. At some point in our lifelong learning journey, we all need a little support. Some students just need more help managing all that is required from their many teachers.
WHO ARE WE
Certified Teachers
Experienced educators possessing advanced degrees with demonstrated understanding of the provincial curriculum outcomes for Junior, Intermediate and Secondary programs of study offering in-home and/or online one-to-one tutorials that will help to positively shape student learning and encourage student persistence. Our educators are required to submit to an annual police background check and/or Vulnerable Sector Screening.
Transforming Learning by Design
So that we may best serve the unique needs and learning styles of the student, our tutors utilize the Universal Design for Learning (U.D.L.) framework to deliver learning support services. U.D.L. is an instructional strategy that incorporates research findings about the broad networks of the brain; affective, recognition, and strategic, associated with learning to customize instructional goals, methods, materials, and assessments to meet individual needs.
